Analysis of modernist architectural features

Modernist architecture broke away from the constraints of traditional architectural forms and boldly created new buildings adapted to the conditions of industrialized society. This modernist architecture is characterized by the following.

  1. Attention was paid to the performance characteristics of new technologies and materials, and three new materials – steel, cement, and glass panels – were used to replace traditional materials. In contrast, the “assembled” method of innovation was also used in the architectural approach.
  2. Emphasis on function as the center of architectural design, the basis of architectural design is logical and scientific, and the efficiency and scientific nature of architectural design is emphasized
  3. The building structure is based on simple geometric shapes. For example, the building is mainly a six-sided building, with no decoration, and neutral colors.
  4. Emphasis is placed on the building design cost, putting economic issues into the design as an essential factor to be considered to achieve practicality and economy.
